Captiva engine blown at 73000km

Cars & Transport

While driving on the freeway the car lost power, after been towed into Reeds N1 was told could be the alternator and boy to my surprise 2 days later been told need to replace the engine as water pump caused the cambelt to slip and thus causing rings and pistons and the works to break. At Reeds later that day was told by Service manager that GM would cover this under Goodwill as warranty had expired 4 months earlier. GM came back to us saying they will pay R15000 of the R52000 in Goodwill as can see that water pump caused the damage. So we took this to MIOSA who in turn said we have a strong case. After a week or so came back and said sorry but he thinks we should just pay. To cut a 4 month story short they are now paying 50% and even tho they know its there problem we must accept it. To make matters worse they said giving us cost prices on parts so now we get the invoice and call another dealer who say no those are there normal prices. It seems that everyone covers for them and even tho 3 other dealers including Reeds N1 said GM should pay they won't. No other manufacture will give you goodwill like we have.
