Efusing to give parcel that was paid fo

Notified by DHL that a parcel from the States had arrived. Paid bank deposit by cheque and e mailed proof of payment. No response. A few days later, telephoned DHL. I was rudely informed by a consultant that I should not have paid by cheque and that I needed to cancel the cheque and pay again.
My bank said this was impossible because the money had gone off my account into DHL's account.
I have spoken many hours with umpteen rude and unhelpful consultants who do not believe that I have paid and are unable to help me. Neither will anyone give me a complaint number or address.
I feel helpless. I have paid them, but DHL refuse to give me my parcel.
