Cars & Transport

I am laying a complaint about Mercedes Benz Northcliff. We sent our car in for repairs (not a service). We were given an estimate of the work to be done and had to have the part ordered. We were assured that the repairs would take 10-14 days once said part had been ordered. After signing the form and ordering the part we waited 14 days with no word. Eventually we called them after 14 days and were told that due to a strike, the part hadn't arrived yet. It should arrive in the next week and she would call us. We are already a week past that stated time and we still have had no call as to where our car is in the process. We are in the mean time, having to borrow and rent cars to get by, with no effort on the suppliers part to resolve or follow up.
While I realise a strike is not something they can control, what they can do is keep me informed. My vehicle is out of warranty. Does that make me an 'un-preferred' or 'non- priority' customer? For over R20 000 in repair work, I expect someone to give me an update each week to keep me informed about the progress!
