Mercedes SA Fails to Rectify Factory Fault (R300)

Miscellaneous

After purchasing a Mercedes R 300 Class and extending the Motor Plan at a cost of R 30, 000 I find that this " does not cover a factory fault" for which Mercedes in Germany manufactures and supplies a part to rectify this issue. I took the vehicle to Centurion branch and dealt with the Service Manager giving him all the details, including the information on the part required to rectify this issue. I was informed two days later that they accept that it can be repaired by I would have to pay the R 4500 to have it repaired. I asked for this report in writing and to date have not had the written report stating that this is my responsibility. In the vehicle there is an AUX plug to play music through the sound system but the system does not work correctly as one has to turn the volume fully up in order to hear the music softly. It has been confirmed that this issue pertains only to the R Class and therefore the part was made by Mercedes to rectify this is available from the factory. Surely if the maintenance covers defects (for which a part has been made) this should be rectified. DETERMINED LONG TIME MERCEDES CUSTOMER.
