Jeep South Africa
Unfair Maintenance Plan

Cars & Transport

I recently took my Jeep to be serviced at Century City in Cape Town. It was supposed to be the final service covered by my Full Maintenance Plan which I extended by 2 years at a cost of R16, 83.70. I was sold the Maintenance Plan on the understanding that it would cover me until I finished my repayments so that I had peace of mind for the full repayment period.

My wife booked in the vehicle on 26th August but we could only take the vehicle in on the 28th August because of work commitments. The vehicle was serviced and a number of issues were found including a broken water pump, and brake discs and shock absorbers that needed replacing. We were told the bill would cost nearly R30, 000, and that it wasn't covered by the extended Maintenance Plan as it had expired on the 26th August (48 hours before).

Jeep management would not grant me any kind of grace period and were unwilling to help. They told me to speak to the Motor Industry Ombudsman if I wasn't happy.

I cannot understand why I would have been sold a policy that expires 5 days before the end of my last repayment. I also find the lack of flexibility in dealing with this situation absolutely shocking. Terrible customer care!
