Maintenance Plan on Ford Figo

All the cars that I buy have a Full Maintenance Plan so that i do not have to budget for any services on my car. My cars are always serviced on time by the particular Motor Company. In 2011 my wife bought a Ford Figo from McCarthy Ford PTA-East and in 2012 from Lazarus Motor Company in Centurion. We made a service appointment for the PTA-East Figo at Lazarus for 3/5/2013 and was told the Maintenance Plan is no problem. Later on the 3/5/2013 I was informed I had to pay for the service and the claim the cost.
What is the function then of the Maintenance plan if i again have to pay for the service? I have paid extra for this Maintenance Plan. What happens to the service costs if I relocate to Natal or the Cape. I could just as well have not taken out this Maintenance Plan. I have not had this problem with Mercedes, Honda, Mitsubishi or VW.
