After accepting the quote and paying a deposit of 50% to the above company the collection date of 27-29 June with the aim on 28th June from our rental house in CPT was confirmed on e-mail the company didn't collect our furniture and Grant Jacobs had made all kinds of excuses why they couldn't collect. He then contacted another removals company in the CPT area that could collect and store the furniture at our expense which I totally disagreed with. I did not accept the charges in writing
He then told me that they would collect the furniture on Tuesday 2 July and we could expect delivery 2 days later at our premises in Durban, the truck only collected the furniture on Thursday 4th July and the truck only left CPT on Friday evening and arrived on Sunday the 6th. The contracted company had contacted myself for the delivery on Monday, on the way to deliver the furniture he had ordered them not to deliver until he had received the balance of the quoted amount as well as the storage costs on which he claimed an additional R1000. I was held 'hostage' until he received full payment and had no choice as it would have cost me more money to put it all back in storage until paid.
