Big Boy Scooters
R2000 clutch replacement on 4 month old scoote

Cars & Transport

Hi,
1st of all, this isnt a complaint against the tokai branch of Big Boy stockists, this is a complaint against the 'small print' of Big Boy warrenty.

My powerflite is 4 months old. I have religiously taken scooter in for all its services, I stick to the recommended cruising speed, I did not ride over 70kph for 1st 1000kms, I do not rev bike when I start it in morning and I most certainly do not rev engine at stop street.

I took my bike in to Tokai branch where i bought it, as it was making a knocking noise. Turns out i need to pay R2000 to get my clutch replaced. Now i understand that the clutch isnt part of the 2 year warrenty as a rider can 'ride the clutch' and cause damage .. I dont understand how you 'ride a clutch' on a automatic!

Apparently this can happen if you rev engine when stopped. I do not do this. So does this mean I must replace my clutch at R2000 every 4 months? If the only way a rider can 'affect' the clutch on an automatic is by doing something I wasnt doing, there is no riding habits I can chage, so theoretically this will happen every 3 months (or 4000kms, which is my current millage)

Feeling conned. My car would have cost half the price in 4 months)
