I collected a package at DHL today and a copy was made of my drivers licence. Could you please explain why you have a requirement like this? I totally understand that it is necessary to verify identification, but why is it necessary to keep a copy?

In my office, 2 people in the last week have been victims of ID - it is such a high risk for consumers and I cannot think of any reason why this is necessary. When you deliver door to door, no copy is provided so why do you need to make a copy at the branch?
