Useless Warranty for Used Vehicles

Cars & Transport

I purchased a used 2007 Lexus IS 250 SE in January 2013 from Lexus Gateway. I added the optional 2 year warranty during the purchase as I was lead to believe it would cover any repairs needed to the vehicle during the first two years of ownership.
In April the audio/entertainment system stopped working.

I booked the car in for a repairs at the dealership on 23/04/2013. The vehicle was kept overnight in order for the repairs to be completed.

I was informed that a replacement audio unit would need to be order and I'd be notified once it was received and ready for installation into my vehicle.

For the next four weeks I had to then constantly follow up with regards to the progress of procuring the replacement audio system. I received a follow up call to rate the service received on the repairs. Finally after a month of waiting I visited the dealership and was told that the replacement parts were not ordered. But they would not place an order for the parts, but the warranty would only cover R1000 of the cost of repairs and parts. Anyway, now I don't have a working stereo and the dealership has been less than helpful in attempting to solve the problem.
