Electronics and household app.
I bought and had installed a Sony Car audio system at the end of 2011 from a local car audio facility. During the year of 2012 the radio packed up and when I took it to the place I had bought it from, they sent it in to Sony for in warranty repairs. The shop promised me the repairs would not take more than 2 weeks, and in fact it took almost 5 weeks, where after I had not received my original radio. The representative from Sony (after some confusion and a lot of phone calls) told the shop manager that my radio was beyond economical repair value and that the shop should give me a new radio. Unfortunately the shop did not have anymore stock of my radio model, as it was a 2011 CD/USB model. I was thus indirectly forced to buy the newer model at a reduced price of R100. (Which is still unacceptable as the radio was with in the 2 year warranty offered by SONY)
According to the shop manager this is so called "normal practice" by SONY. I did take it with a pinch of salt though, but I was still appalled by the event as I have been a proud SONY consumer for the last 10 years.
