BMW South Africa
Replacement part

Cars & Transport

I have been driving BMW's for nearly 25 years, this is the second time I have this problem. After having the combo box removed from my car and checked as my GPS was faulty, I was informed that it would take three weeks to get a replacement. I cannot understand that despite hundreds of these boxes being installed into cars on the production line, that they cannot take one out and put into the spares department that does not carry stock. This box xontrols not only the GPS, but the radio, park distance control, Ipod and most importantly bluetooth. I spend a lot of time in my car and now need to pull over every time I get a call.

The dealer Cedar Isle, merely stated, the part is on back order. No effort was made to even try speed up this process. Surely one could go to the plant and try get one from the production line. I do not beleive that every box installed in new cars works. There must be failures when assembling and for that they should also be carry spares for in order not to stop production.

I also sent an email to customer service, to date I have had no response.

After nearly 25 years, I think it may be time for me to reconsider my brand loyalty.
