My vw gti, golf 6, which i bought brand new in may 2012, had experienced an overheating problem at the beginning of may this year. this occurred while i was on vacation. vw assist helped with towing the vehicle and taking it to the closest vw approved dealer in Margate. a courtesy car was given to me for 2 days. i was initially told that the waterpump had failed and that the car would be sorted after 3 days, after 3 days i was told by vw margate that the car was still overheating and that the cylinder head had to be diagnosed, this took a further 5 days, then i was told the cylinder head needed to be replaced, after a further 2 weeks. A bill of R 49.4 k was emailed to me. this due to the fact that the car's engine speed was exceeded due to excessive overerving, this not covered by warranty as it was "consequential damage" after not agreeing to pay that amount, the bill was lowered to 17.7k as goodwill gesture by vw. this car is a high performance vehicle which was built for high speed, To date i am still waiting for proof of why warranty wont cover to justify bill. i have gotten poor feedback from vwsa, i have had to call daily at my own expense. car still at margate to dat
