La Malagueta
Bad food and service turn dining into a disaste

We had our family Christmas dinner at La Malagueta Restaurant on 20 November 2013. We were 12 people. We booked on Monday 18 November 2013 and were called at 5:30pm to hear that they had no place as the weather had turned (raining and windy). We insisted that they make a plan.
We waited forever to be served. Starters: 2 chicken livers were served cold. The waiter was very slow with the drink orders. Main Course: Prawns were tiny and flourery. My medium fillet was cremated. My garlic sauce was pepper sauce. I sent it back and cancelled it after waiting 30 minutes, as everyone had finished eating. A cold kingklip sent back and returned so hot it burnt the mouth. Hake ordered with rice, came with chips. Veal ordered with vegetables came with potatoes and vegetables were served after the meal.
What was supposed to be an enjoyable evening out with the family turned into a cullinary disaster, fraught with anger and exasperation. I will never set foot in that place again!!!
