Most incompetent/useless hostess

Last night we attended the Buy 1 get 1 free special at John Dory's Canal Walk. I phoned to book a table at 12pm for 7pm. We arrived and were told by the hostess that there was no table for us. She then proceeded to seat other patrons (walk-ins) and just left us standing there. I asked her repeatedly about our table, and she didn't have a clue what was going on! Many other people complained about her service!

I'd like to commend the service of the waiters who took initiative and made us a table and ensured we were treated well. If it wasn't for them, we would have left and taken our business next door to Cape Town Fish Market.

The service of the waiters as well as the food were absolutely great, but a sour taste is always left in one's mouth with poor service from a hostess- after all, she is the first impression people get of the restaurant! The girl didn't even know how to crack a smile!
