Manager: "It's not a crèche..! "

At around 16h30 today, I was at Mastro with a friend and our two boys. We ordered some drinks and a take-home meal for my husband. I then went to have a cigarette in their smoking area. A man was seated inside and I overheard him tell the waitresses: "This is not a creche... they should stay home with their brats" (Referring to a family that just entered with a little girl (2/3 years-old) crying, but otherwise calm and well mannered. I told him that he is not being fair and that parents often don't have the option of leaving small kids elsewhere. He argued that at this time of day, kids should be bathed, fed and ready for bed, not be out there annoying others, to which I replied that it's not that late and that he was being unreasonable. At that point he started getting defensive and rather aggressive, attacking my character.. implying that my kids are probably the unruly kind and asked me why I smoke as a mother.. that he doesn't need to discuss this with me any further.. I eventually heard enough and went back to our table. When our waitress brought the food order, she apologised about the incident and I asked to see the manager, only to establish that it was Mr Rude himself!
