Stale food at Mugg and Bean

From time to time I stop for a coffee and sandwich at the Mugg and Bean (Total garage on the northbound highway).

I purchased a cappuccino and what was probably intended to be an apple pastry.

On opening the packaging the pastry I found it to be obviously stale, rubbery, tasteless, and generally vile.

I went to the counter and asked the lady behind it when the product was made. "It came yesterday" she said.

Presumably this means it was placed in the display yesterday and it's anyone's guess when it was actually baked.

I asked her if that is the reason it tastes so bad. "Probably" she said. It was good that we could agree on that.

So in front of her I dropped it in the bin since it wasn't fit for human consumption.

She just looked on boredly.
