Piccolo Mondo - dissapointed

Hi, We decided that we were going to go to an upmarket place for a good meal as a treat. We live in Joburg and thought picking the Michaelangelo Hotel would be a good idea as it has an excellent reputation. We then called and asked for a dinner reservation for 2 and got a booking for 8pm at Piccolo Mondo. We were excited, got dressed up and drove to Sandton.

We arrived around 8pm and were escorted to a nice table overlooking the square from a window. The waiter was good and we received the menus and ordered our starters. My partner who took me out and paid for the meal ordered the creamy mussel starter and the baked salmon fillet for dinner. It took us a while to observe the other guests at the restaurant and in the lounge area and we noticed that it was crawling with call-girls. We in fact thought that we were perhaps the only normal couple in the place that evening and found this fact very off putting for a 'world-class' location.

We got home and went to bed and at around 11.30pm my partner woke up and was very sick from the meal. It was the cherry on-top for the evening out.

A complete disaster. We will never get tempted to such a treat again.
