Unsatisfactory Service and Horrible Food!

On Sunday, 5 May 2013, my friends and I decided to have a catch up session, and settled on having it at Bayleaf - a local restaurant at Metlife Plaza, in Port Elizabeth.

Everything seemed to be fine, the service was good, and we did not have to wait long for our orders. Two of the orders were flapjacks, and the one was a waffle. When the waffle arrived, it was burnt. Yet they still served it. The flapjacks were not only a bit burnt, but very doughy on the inside. Flapjacks are supposed to be fluffy and spongy, not doughy and burnt. We didn't eat it.

We then called our waiter and sent it back, and I notified the manager about it. She then went to the kitchen, and informed us that there was nothing wrong with the flapjacks and it was up to the restaurant's standards. We asked for the bill and saw that we had been charged full price for something we didn't eat. We tried to talk to the manager but she was unaccommodating. There was nothing they could do because they did not find fault with the dish.

Whatever happened to "The Customer Comes First"? Regardless of what their low standards are, they should have been more accommodating and understanding.
