Victimized by Vericred’s incompetence

Last year due to unfortunate circumstances one of my medical bills slipped through and landed up with Vericred. They send me an SMS stating that I have an outstanding balance with Dr. Spies and I paid immediately.

Four months later I again get an SMS from Vericred requesting payment on this account. It was later figured out that I was incorrectly notified of only half the outstanding amount and this was now for the second half plus a penalty of R800. After explaining my situation I've then been promised that the penalty will be cancelled due to its unfairness only to discover later that this was a to trick me into making a payment. Due to this I had no option but to contact Dr. Spies accounts and pay them directly. Now I continually get badgered by Vericred to pay the outstanding penalty threatening me that the matter will be handed over to the attorneys and that I will get a bad credit rating because of this. Trying to reason with the consultant in question is futile. Even contacting her supervisor and Vericred online yielded no response. This is not only unfair towards me but also to the doctor that had to wait 4 months longer for full payment!
