First National Bank
FALSE ADVERTISING and POOR SERVICE

Business & Finance

On 16 Apr, I decided to take up the tablet/smartphone offer from FNB. After browsing these units for a while I came across a Samsung ATIV 64GB 11.6 inch for R99 a month. After a call to FNB, I finally spoke to a sales agent. She told me that I did qualify for a device. After a brief exchange of pricing queries, she checked on the system, came back and said the price is in fact R449. I sent screenshots of it advertised for R99. FNB was now going to look into this.
I had to follow up numerous times, as each time I contacted FNB they said they were busy with my query. Nobody ever gave me a direct number where I could reach them, so each time I had to speak to numerous agents, in various departments. One agent had no idea how the offer even worked! I received a call in the evening from FNB, saying the price on the site was incorrect (It's now R449) and there is no way that they could honour the previously advertised price. I asked for it in writing and it took 3 days.
So FNB can advertise offers to their customers, waste their time, and then dishonour the offers? Nowhere does it state that prices may change without notice, or any statement to cover themselves for this exact situation.
