Not getting money's worth

I lost my ring last weekend. The ring is insured for R18000, although it is worth R20000. I have sent through the valuation certificate, only to find out that Outsurance is only willing to refund me for R9000. This is shocking! The consultant casually told me that the company will go for the cheapest option. I find this unacceptable. I have no idea why we pay more than R1000 a month for insurance, if we won't get what we have been promised in time of need. I also spoke to a woman named Edith, who did not read my emails through, and put the claim through wrong the first time. Then, they confused me with another client and gave me attitude. Now, the THIRD time, they are informing me that they will pay only R9000???!!! For a ring that is SUPOOSED to be insured for R18000?? Seriously?!!
