STD bank comms down!

I went to the ATM in Fordsburg at 16:30 this afternoon and the guard told me not to put my card into any of the machines because they would swallow the card. I decided to go to the place I wanted to pay and, when they swipped my card, the transaction was declined. I went to another STD ATM and it said: "Your transaction cannot be processed...". I then went to an FNB ATM and it told me that there was a problem with my bank. Can you imagine the embarresment I felt when my tranaction was declined?! The cashier that was serving me immediately felt like she couldn't trust me. I had to either walk to the ATMs or get a lift as I had taken my car to the mechanic and they refused to release my car without payment. I had to 'make a plan' to defer the payment. The problem here is that I couldn't pay because there was a problem with the bank and yet it looked like it was my fault and STD bank did not communicate this to customers in any way (SMS, E-mail or even at the ATM). This is not the first problem I have had with them and I am seriuosly thinking of changing banks. I may not be a multi-millionaire but my acc always has a positive balance and that is what counts.
