My Platinum credit card was retained by an ABSA autoteller because it has apparently expired. To date I have not received any notification of the issue of a new card. I have had to now phone card division to request a new card. Bear in mind that this little exercise took about 30 min for some one to actually answer the phone. After I had gone through the whole security procedure I was told that the could not help me because I needed to report the card (another 30min on the phone) and have it stopped. Now I ask you. Am I dealing with embiciles here. ABSA retains my card because it has expired but I must now report it to ABSA first before they will issue a new card. This is pathetic and I am without a credit card now... none of which is my doings. What happened to the days when ABSA sms'd you to tell that your new card was ready and all that you had to do was tell them what branch to send it to.
