I got called for an overdue payment on a loan, but I am in possession of a letter from Standard Bank where they claim that overdue payments will be processed when the funds are available, to prevent credit ratings from being affected. They do not keep to their written agreements. Also, they want me to go the branch to fix their mistakes, and I was told I even have to go to the branch to arrange for receiving electronic statements. Is this 2013 or 1803? I was also threatened that not only my credit rating will be affected, but also that of my son, who is the beneficiary of the student loan. Does almost 20 years as a Standard Bank client mean nothing to you? I am busy moving my business away from Standard Bank, and I cannot wait to be rid of you. Unfortunately, after 20 years of having all my banking business, changing banks is not quite so easy, but it is happening slowly but surely. I am eagerly looking forward to the next newspaper report stating Standard Bank are cutting jobs (again), because this kind of service does not need to be supported. And please, tell your call centre I am not a child and I do not appreciate being spoken to as if I were a child.
