Iemas Financial Services
Cancelled my membership, but still being charged

Business & Finance

I recently resigned from my previous company, whom was an Iemas linked organisation and joined another. I cancelled my Iemas membership on 26 February 2013 all together as I decided I don't need the services any longer, including their short term insurance services and moved to another insurar at that time. I sent through my cancellation documentation as requested, and this month, at my new company, a deduction was made of R 3664.70 on my salary! Upon query from the person I sent my cancellation to, Gladys Radebe, this was for short term insurance and I should have cancelled that with a seperate cancellation form! What does terminating membership mean then? How can it be that I must complete different form for everything? I had a personal loan with iemas, of which the full outstanding amount was deducted at the end of January. Now I was told that there is another outstanding amount of about R3100 that will be deducted from my membership savings in addition to the settled loan. All smoke and mirrors to me. If I cancel my membership it means cancelling everything. If I had to submit more forms then why does she not tell me this? Now it is my fault that I did not cancel the insurance
