On the 3rd December 2012, a water pipe had burst, flooding the bathroom, also causing consequential damage to the kitchen and other areas of the house.i have been insured with Auto & General for the past 4 years and the complete structure is covered as mentioned by the policy. At 9.10am i contacted the insurance company, only to be transferred all over South Africa, including Durban & Pretoria and it seemed that nobody at the claims dept can assist me with logging a claim. Finally after an hour and a half, a female consultant at the Cape Town claims dept assists me, only to transfer me AGAIN to the emergency roadside assistance.By now i was completely angry, the consultant at the emergency roadside dept tells me that they cannot assist me as the leaking pipe is not visible and ill have to contribute to all the costs once a plumber is sent out. I declined and requested only to speak to a manager as the claims call center staff are incompetent with handling my claim. I communicated with the Pretoria Manager who then transferred me to a Cape Town manager on duty who assured me this will be sorted. 10 days have passed and no feedback has been received, Pathetic Customer Service!
