First National Bank
Poor service and lack of accountablity

Business & Finance

Our family has been awaiting the finalization of an estate since 2009, with the will lodged First Trust Will and Custody Services.
We keep calling FNB to ask how we are able to make progress with our estate. They say 'we will just have to wait till they appoint an Executor'..How long does it take to appoint an Executor... 4 years and counting?
We've needed to collect documents from other 3rd parties and get them to FNB - without any acknowledgment of receipt thereof. The onus to do so surely should not be on us to drive around collecting legal documents from other parties? We've needed to remind the designated attorney on numerous occasions of he status of the case. We have not once received an update from FNB as to the status of the process... not once in 4 years.
We have resorted to escalating the matter to the banking ombudsman as well as to the SA law society. I cannot begin to express my disgust and disappointment at the way we've been treated. We've incurred massive costs with regards to the maintenance of the estate do date - all that would not have occurred had FNB been more efficient in executing their role (for which they are handsomely remunerated)
