Legal Aid
Estate claim for person deceased in 2010 Decembe

Miscellaneous

Uncle passed away in December 2010, he had money invested at FNB. For this money to be claimed, the wife was told to first apply for the executorship letter from the Master of high court as the estate exceeds R120000 and she would need an attorney to assist. on the 4th of January 2011 we went to Legal Aid South Africa (Bethlehem), where we opened a file and provided all documents they had said they would need. Through the whole year of 2011, we kept doing follow up with the attorney that was handling our case, ( Mr Mavuso) and we were requested to sign documents and had to wait for the response from the Master. On the 24th of January 2012 we were called to the branch and met a new attorney that took over our case. On this day she confirmed that she got the money from the bank, and she must submit the estate account application for approval to the Master and advertise the Estate for 21days, if there are no claims then they can payout. In March I called to follow up on the progress, she told me the documents we had signed were incorrect and we had to sign new ones and she would advice when we have to avail ourselves for that. There is no progress of the case in two years.
