Outsurance
Wrong details captured by Agent. Now I must pay!

Business & Finance

During some stage of my contract with Outsurance my information was captured that I was married. I suspect this must have been fairly recent as I have been with them for the past 4 years and recently called in for my policy to be re-rated as I felt I was paying far too much as it was.

So today I called in to get a home insurance quote. When going through my personal information we came across that I was married, a big surprise to me. This was rectified and my home insurance quote emailed to me. Before finishing the call however the agent informed me now that I would be paying an additional R200 for my car insurance do to my marital status changing. I have ALWAYS been single.

This was escalated to a senior consultant who could not do anything for me. But stated that it is a system generated fee and there was nothing that he could do, and that they were covered in all their legal obligations to me. Really? So what does the quote that I received mean? What is the contract that I agreed to based on the amount that I was given?

In NONE of the documentation is there any mention of the marital status. This is something I could not have corrected, or checked myself!
