My wife has vehicle finance through Absa. The debit order for this go through my bank account. We also bought a maintenance warranty when we purchased the vehicle. The premiums for this went through the Absa account, since t hey apparently paid the insurance company in full at the start of the contract. This policy expired in January, but they kept on adding the premium to the monthly debit order. My wife called them on the 3rd March this year to inquire and they promised to rectify it and refund me for this. To date this has not happened so my wife called again. They once again gave her a reference number but said that they will not refund me. Instead they are going to put the refund against the capital on the account. I called them about this and was put through to Samantha. I insisted that they refund me, but she bluntly told me that I have no power of attorney on this account. I am now going to stop the debit order at the bank and then we must take each other on about this. I am quite sure the Consumer Council will love this one. They owe me plus interest.
