Absa
ABSA wants to take my deceased daughter's vehicle

Business & Finance

I have been receiveing letters from Absa after my daughter (the Absa account holder) passed away. The letters, which do not have a reference name or contact person, state that my daughter, who passed away in October last year, is in arrears with the payments of her car, which she bought in July last year. However, my daughter had taken insurance for the car. I have neither received nor seen any documents from the insurance provider (as a beneficiary) from Absa or the insurance company (whom I expect Absa to be aware of, including details of the contract). The only communication from Absa about the contents of the insurance agreement has been verbal, without the necessary documents being shown to me. Absa wants to remove the vehicle from my property, which does not seem right becuase it is not clear if the insurance was paying or not and if not, why. And so far, instalments have been withdrawn from my daughter's account even after she had passed away.
