On the 25th of January 2013 I requested a settlement amount on my account. I was given a figure of R743.35 telephonically by one of their agents. The debit amount of R625 went off for the month of January as per previous months. Based on that, my outstanding balancing was about R118.35 outstanding. As this account was due to be closed I expected the amount to be low as I had not settled a few extra charges. On the 27 th of February I received an SMS telling me that my balance was R234. I expected that to be the amount to be debited. Instead an amount of R422 was debited. From the way I understand it, the balance due at end of Jan was now inflated with R300 worth of charges in order to close off this account. Is that even something that is legal to do? Charge R300 worth of interest and other charges on R118.00? When I call them I am now told that my account is paid up and there was no error in their billing. I don't want anymore explanations I really want my money back and no more credit offers from then. Thanks but NO thanks!
