22 years I have been banking with Standard Bank. I have my personal accounts, business accounts, home loan & car. Last year I upgraded to their 'Prestige Banking' package that included 'dedicated prestige banking service' amongst other so called 'benefits'. I always pay my credit card every month and have no debt other than mortgage. A better credit rating or banking customer you do not get. So why is it that it when I for the first time in my life ask for a measly R15, 000 extension to my available credit to cover us for an imminent holiday, that they refuse? When try to phone their 'Prestige customer care' no-one can help. When I do to the Constantia branch I get to wait and see a regular consultant and not a 'Prestige banker' as promised in the marketing they spin. When I finally get to sit in front of a human being I get told that they can't help, that it's a 'system thing'. Standard Bank - you had me from 16 yrs old. I remember sitting with consultants who knew my name as well as my Dads. These days you pay for something you don't get, and instead get a whole system of. I am today ashamed to have been duped & might for the 1st time consider moving
