Paid Bond in Full - can't get money out of bond

I'm trying to get money out of our bond. We paid our 30year bond finished after nearly 6 years. When I paid the bond in full I asked FNB if I can asked for the money again when we need it and they said yes. No I'm asking just a small amount and they don't want to give us our money (in the first place) that we place on the bond. We can afford it - we have more that enough security. If I Know that I'm going to struggle to get the money out of the bond I would never put it in the first place there.? Don't know why I also way must struggle with FNB. It's feels like I only a number to them and there is no relationship between me and the bank.
