False and unclear information just for a sale

After speaking to a consultant who assured us that we would be covered from the time we took out a medical aid insurance policy and being told that our baby would be covered from day one for undiagnosed illnesses. The day our child was rushed to hospital with fevers and one lung not inflating when she breathed we were horrified to find out that she was in fact not covered for any of the procedures which were going to be performed on her. Not the medication, tests or hospital stay. I think that having the "wool pulled over your eyes" just so that they can sell policies to people is something that is unacceptable. We had to make a loan from the bank to get help for our very sick 8 month old baby. People need to take care when dealing with these types of medical aid. I should rather have gone for a reputable medical aid... I have learned a lesson from all this and it took for us to be out of pocket... I am just very happy that it happened sooner than later - just think how much I would have paid out if I had not had the need to use the medical aid after just 2 months installments.
