I've conducted my banking account since 1998 and had zero dishonours and less than a handful excesses on my account since inception. This week a debit order of R110 was unpaid and a penalty fee of R115-00 levied. I feel that I could have been contacted by Standard Bank and advised of excess and requested adjustment of the account. I feel the situation was very impersonal and undignified. Furthermore, I feel that at a time when I needed my bank most they were cold. Have no option but to settle with Standard Bank and move banks asap.
