Credit profile negativly affctd due 2 incompetence

An account that was paid up and closed in 2012 is negatively affecting my profile. I was told by more than one consultant that the account has been removed from my profile yet when I apply for credit, it is declined due to the exact same reason (which you people know about btw!!!)
Now i'm told to contact that department in question myself and sort it out with them directly.???!!!
