Standard Bank
Declined due to expiry date but BEFORE date expiry

Business & Finance

My son applied for a student loan. "Consent to credit check" authorization was required before 4 Feb 2014 (as per email from Student Loans). Consent forms sent through on 3 Feb 2014. But on 3rd Feb the application was declined due to "Consent to credit checks not received".

How can your system reject something due to date expiry BEFORE the due date.

Then try to phone the "Unsecured Lending" call center. Minimum of 20 minutes wait for answer. Today it was 40 minutes. I've called this call center approx 4 times over the past 2 weeks. Always minimum 20 minutes wait! According to the agent: 1. they cannot see how long the client has been waiting, 2) they have no view of the real time performance of the call center: queue length, average wait time etc. Is Standard Bank really saying that everyone must wait at least 20-30 minutes for an answer? In two days I have spent 80 minutes waiting for 2 calls to this call center. Agent refused to put me through to a manager.

Standard Bank seem to be well focused on proving to young doctors why they should bank elsewhere. This is the 5th year in a row we've had issues with this process!!!

Please can someone sort this out urgently
Thanks
