Cheque account wrongly debited by set off

I have an existing repayment arrangement with attorneys for a credit card debt and I have been honouring my monthly repayments of R500.00. However, on 31.01.2014 my account was wrongly debited with the amount of R2, 030.00. My efforts to have the amount refunded have proven fruitless and these and unjustified actions have placed my personal monthly budget under extreme pressure as well as causing me inconvenience that I am unable to pay my rent on time. I have already spoken with the attorneys involved and they are just as frustrated as I am as they are also experiencing great difficulty in trying to contact the relevant department. I have also been referred to EDC Assist and am also experiencing difficulty in making contact on their call centre. I do not understand why the bank continues to apply set offs when the debt has been handed over to attorneys and when there is an existing and current repayment structure in place. I would like to have this amount refunded immediately and any existing set off arrangement that the bank has in place must be cancelled for the duration of the repayment arrangement that is in place with the attorneys.
