I deposited a cheque on the 19th of December. On the 3 of January Absa debited that amount out of my account. They did not inform me, they simply remove this amount

When I queried it they said the cheque was reported as lost.

I then contacted the company who issued the cheque and they said they cannot reissue this cheque as the amount had been withdrawn on 24/12/2013.

I've called Absa 10 times. I've been passed from small business banking to credit card to some imaginary cheque department. I have a total of 6 numbers I've been told to call.

I've contacted my business account manager Stephanie Marimuthu and then Gavin Kruger from Absa Enterprise.

I cannot get hold of anyone who is able to assist. Absa accepted my cheque, acknowledged that they received it but either lost it or someone from within the bank has these funds.

It is extremely frustrating and difficult to deal with Absa. I am starting to understand the exodus of my friends from Absa to FNB.

This has to be hands down the worst bank to work with as a business. They do not understand the needs of a business and they are incompetent which makes my life more difficult.
