I am very unhappy with the way Absa does business with there small clients. After finishing my studies last year, I went to my local branch to update my account from a student cheque account to the silver cheque account bundle with credit card and Absa rewards included. All went south from there. Every month before payment date I deposited money into my credit card. That went well until they debited my cheque account also that month and there was no funds available. I got my mail that informed me I dishonored my debit order and the warning of increased interest rates and bad relationship with the bank. After this I just left money in my cheque acc for the debit order. This month no debit order! I just keep getting sms that my credit card is over the limit and I need to rectify it. Double standards? Now with absa rewards the same month, they debited my account twice and I received no rewards for the month. So I canceled the serves and all the call center told me is that I must swipe my card to earn points, no explanation on why account was debited twice or if it can be rectified.
So it does not matter what you do, your credit record will be blemished either way it seems.
