Upgraded credit card with the same funds???

So, absa sends me a msg to inform me that my credit card has been upgraded, so id obviously expect slighty more funds available... when i received the card.i checked my balance and everything remained the same! to me the only thing that has changed is the look of my card as well as the extra monthly fee for the upgrade?? can some pls tell me how does this benefit me??? why not just leave the card as is!
