First National Bank
MONEY DEDUCTED FROM MY ACCOUNT

Business & Finance

I have just opened an account with FNB and to my surprise an amount of R4520 was debited from my account. Upon enquiry I was informed its against the credit card I once had with FNB. There was no form of communication in terms of them going to deduct money from my account and i feel this is quite an inconvenience on my side. This I believe is illegal for FNB to try and collect on a prescribed debt.

According to the Prescription Act, a debt is deemed to be prescribed if it has been three years since your last payment and in three years you have not acknowledged the debt in any way - and neither has the creditor summonsed you for it.

Im not running away from my responsibility to pay back the money I owe but I feel I was not informed of this therefore request that FNB refund my money asap. My kids cant starve because of this
