Claim is taking more that 6 months

I have been bumped in the robot around July 2012 by taxi driver. I claimed from my Absa insurance by then, my car was fixed and i also had to pay excess amount before taking the car. Absa insurance recoveries took long than enough even when there's no defence against the summons. Its been more than five months now i'm busy calling without positive feedback.
Currently they claiming people who worked on my file resigned and Absa insurance is changing attorneys.
My R6000 amount that i paid is taking long to recover. i accept legal process is long but if they dont defend why cant the bank apply for default judgement and repossess the taxi to recover the cost? Now monthly i have to phone requesting feedback which is the same since last year. i mean the incompetence of the attorney is not a factor to me recieving my lost money.
