Standard Bank
Overdue card messages

Business & Finance

I have recently received a number of text messages and automated voice calls from Standard Bank regarding a non-existent Bluebean card that is apparently overdue. The messages started out as seemingly friendly reminders to make payment, but have now escalated to my being threatened with legal action, as well as a request to call the Credit Rehabilitation Centre. I do not have an active Bluebean Card with Standard Bank.

At first, I ignored the messages, as they were obviously sent in error and harmless from my point of view (they only occurred about once a week). After a conversation with a friend, I became concerned that it could indicate identity, as someone could have used my personal information to open an account with Standard Bank. Based on that (hopefully unfound) fear, the long and unsuccessful process of resolving the issue started.

I have, in the last three days, made fifteen phone calls to the supplied Credit Rehabilitation Centre number (0861112807), as well as sent two e-mails outlining my concerns to Standard Bank's supplied e-mail address (information [Email Removed] No resolution has been forthcoming.
