Standard Bank
Owing R47 000???

Business & Finance

I had a business account with standard bank. The business didn't work out and was forced to close down.

My business account was closed 2010/07/06

Final outstanding payment of R28 000 on 20 Jan 2011, settling the account.

On 1 Feb 2011, I received a letter from standard bank that the account is fully paid up and has been closed. In the letter standard bank states that: "This letter serves to confirm that your account as quoted above has been repaid in full and that Standard Bank has no further claim for this debt."

It is now January 2014, the phone calls from the recovery department never stopped. Attorneys phoned me and try to arrange repayment instalments. Saying, I still owe the bank R47 000.

If I didn't keep this prove of payment in my records, Standard Bank would have bullied me into paying R47 000.

Isn't that trying to from a client?

How can one of South Africa's biggest banks be so wrong for so long?

How will I know that they have updated their systems this time around?

How can you trust a bank with your money when they make false accusations like this?

What about my credit record?

Is a simple "sorry" enough... doubt it!?!?!
