A credit that disappeared

I religiously paid my vehicle finance every month, even keeping the instalment the same when the interest rate dropped. This accumulated an advance on my account which amounted to R2108.27 at the date i paid the account off on the 29th of November 2013. I have phoned them prior to my settling the account to make sure the advance was not part of the outstanding balance, and was told on three occasions it was separate.

I asked could i put the advance towards paying the final amount, and was told more than once i couldn't do that, the system doesn't allow it.

After settling the account i phoned again for the vehicles papers and to get the refund (advance), and guess what, the credit has magically disappeared. It has been escalated twice now and no one has even bothered to call me, big surprise. I have explained this to various customer care reps, and wasted lots of money on these calls. I've been a client of the bank for 22 years, and feel like you have robbed one of your own Standard Bank, shame on you for treating your customers this way.

My next recourse is the ombudsman, i, have had enough.
