I have banked with FNB for ages and have even positively spoken about FNB to my friends. Which is why i was surprised when i could not be assisted today. Granted I have not used my cheque account for some time and have been using my savings account, i was however not informed via telephone call or sms that the cheque account was cancelled. Today when funds were deposited into the cheque account by a third party i wondered why it didnt reflect (by the way the cheque account still reflects on my online banking, does show cancelled). I called FNB to find out only then that the account is cancelled. I queried the funds that were deposited as the depositor informed me that the deposit was done. FNB's response, it will take 3 days reflect on their side, will bounce back to depositor who will only see it in another 3 days (6 days in total), that i have to wait because it is their process apparently. Seriously??? There apparently is no option to redirect the funds, even though the savings account is linked to the cheque account and no way for them to speed up the process either. not very impressed at all, maybe Steve from? bank should advise the people he calls about the negatives of FNB.
