Account handed over after dispute and no feedback

My Absa cheque account was overdrawn with - R300 in service fees. After contacting Absa and telling them that I was unemployed and they should please stop the card there was no feedback. Almost a year later I was contacted by Absa saying that the account was overdrawn with over R2000 and that I had to pay it, I proceeded to tell them that I requested the account to be closed and never received another statement or call from them. She said they will investigate. Another 6months went by without any more feedback. All of a sudden I get bombarded with emails and messages from attorneys trying to collect the outstanding service fees. I refuse to take responsibility because of Absa's lack of communication and procedures. Even after telling them that I will settle the R300 odd that was outstanding after our first discussion they could not reply or give me feedback as requested. I need this rectified as it affects my credit rating. Every single time I speak to them I get asked the same question. Who did you speak to??? It has been nearly 2 years. Check it on your recordings please.
